Attack of the COLD!

It's time for the cold that inevitably comes when the stress of finals beats down my immune system.

Couldn't find my neti pot this morning, so I went out and bought another. Just found my old one. I'm upset because I was hoping to buy another one, but I wanted to get a good one. A non-plastic, easy-to-clean neti pot. Oh well. Guess I should just wait until these 2 disintegrate.

Stopped and bought some matzo ball soup from a nearby diner. ^^

Despite the work and the stress and the cold, I'm maintaining my sunny disposition fairly well. The sparkling tree and the fireplace I built are contributing to the mood.

'Tis the Season....

...for stress and tears.

It's finals time, folks. Drowning, but alive!

But finals mean the semester is over. That's one semester down and one to go. You know what that means, right?

OoooooOOOOOhh, we're halfway there. Whoooooaaa, livin' on a prayer!

This version is soooo good! Check out the hair!

Thanksgiving: Commemoration of 500 Years of Betrayal Returned for Friendship

It has recently come to my attention that there are people who see only the historical context of this day which we celebrate. I think that it important to recognize that as educated people, we understand the historical truths and have been working toward expelling some of those myths we grew up with. Despite what we know about where Thanksgiving Day came from and what actually happened during that point in our country's history, today, to us as individuals, this holiday has taken on a different meaning.

Days of giving thanks happened long before that "first Thanksgiving" we learned about as children. Thanks were given for the lives we have and the people who share that with us. Thanks were given for food and resources, sun and life, family and friends. Today, I like to think that the meaning of Thanksgiving has returned to a meaning much closer to what native people had been celebrating long before the Europeans landed. I like to think that we are celebrating something much purer than those myths.

I, personally, am celebrating precious time in which my whole family is able to take off from work and school to gather and share stories and laughter, a time when we can express our love and thanks for one another. This is what I will be doing tomorrow.

Loving you always,
with wild plums and agrimony

Give Me Purpose!!!

You guys are going to need to comment, or there's no purpose in doing this. I'll be making an announcement at Thanksgiving dinner, but just giving you a heads up. I need comments, or I won't keep this up. If I don't keep this up, I'll surely return to Facebook. I need your support, folks! I need you to back me up!

When I was blogging before (for whatever period of time I maintained it), my sole motivation was to get feedback--that's what made it fun! It's the same. I still need to know that you're reading. I have a private blog just for me. This isn't a place just to record my thoughts and feelings. This is a place to communicate it to you. I think that's what I'm doing here. Maybe I'm still figuring that out.

I love you!

Dear Family---- See you Thursday!!! Get ready for that life-changing apple pie! Tried it out on another group of friends today. Before, the subjects were all men and law students. Men will eat anything, right? Lawyers will say whatever it takes to get the proper response, right??? This time I chose a group of women. A group of social workers, all trained in maintain unbiased positions, while giving honest feedback. It was a hit! Even got requests for the recipe (the men didn't ask for that!)!!

This goes out to my dear, dear family and friends...!

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is...

I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about the presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I don't need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas day
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you
You baby

I won't ask for much this Christmas
I don't even wish for snow
I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the mistletoe
I won't make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeer click
'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do
Baby all I want for Christmas is you
Ooh baby
All the lights are shining
So brightly everywhere
And the sound of children's
Laughter fills the air
And everyone is singing
I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need
Won't you please bring my baby to me...

Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see my baby
Standing right outside my door
Oh I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby all I want for Christmas is...

All I want for Christmas is you... baby

The Death of Facebook

Dear Family and Friends,

I have decided to de-activate my facebook account. I had been spending too much unproductive time mindlessly flipping through meaningless pages. I'll go back, just not yet.

I will try to breathe new life into this old and forgotten blog, so that you have some sort of electronic record of my well-being and alive-ness.
